The BNS Process
Over the years, we have developed our BNS Flexible Product Development System. It easily integrates with any client’s existing product development process (and works equally well with “waterfall” based or “reiterative” based approaches).
Through this process, we ensure that multiple solutions are examined and then filtered and refined by practicality, cost efficiency and ultimate results. You can enter and exit this process smoothly at any stage allowing BNS Solutions to help for the entire product development process or just one or more segments.
Full documentation is provided to you at each phase of the development process from quantifying your Requirements through final Manufacturing Documents. This helps make sure that the project fully integrates into your product, your product line, and your company.

The BNS Flexible Product Development System
The Need: A client realizes they need extra help on a product because they need outside expertise or need to relieve their own design department of the commitment.
Market Research: We work with you to make sure we understand not only your immediate need, but also how your company works, your market, your place within that market and your product’s place within that market.
Project Specifications: Once we fully understand your market, we can develop the right specs to lay out the proper scope of the project.
Ideation (Divergent Problem Solving): Our engineers quickly formulate many ways to accomplish the goal. This brainstorming phase goes well beyond looking at the conventional approaches to the need to make sure a new, innovative solution is not overlooked.
Evaluation and Distillation of Ideas: Here the ideas created in the Ideation Phase are looked at for feasibility, efficiency, and cost. This leads to a few good possibilities.
Convergent Solution Selection: The chosen ideas are evaluated more closely with rough samples built where necessary to gain the most information possible (breadboarding). Working closely with the client, our engineers quickly refine, combine and rethink these solutions eventually winnowing it down to the right approach.
Development and Testing: The idea is more fully realized in a practical model and put through intensive testing in real-world environments.
Prototypes: Once the technology has proven itself practical in Development and Testing, we build several generations of prototype products. These are then again tested in real-world environments for practicality, durability, and effectiveness. Extensive feedback from clients and other outside experts gives us the necessary information to fine tune each successful prototype, until everyone involved feels comfortable with the result.
Support and Manufacturing Tools Development: BNS Solutions develops the support material needed to lead to final manufacture including designing and specific manufacturing tools needed.
Primary Manufacture: This is done either by BNS Solutions directly if we are going to be the manufacturers of the product or by the outside manufacturer under the close guidance of BNS. During this time, the manufacturing tools are finalized.
Pilot Run: This limited production run is a final test to make sure all systems are set to make sure you get the best product possible.
Manufacturing: Products begin to be produced.
Final Product Qualification: Depending on the industry, BNS Solutions continues to help through the final qualification process. |
