Case StudiesBNS Solutions prides itself on the wide range of projects we have successfully tackled over the years. And in every case, our people first work to understand each company, their market, and their place within that market. Only with this knowledge can BNS and the client truly work together to discover the ideal solution. As a company, we are small enough to guarantee the best in personal attention and large enough to have the experience and expertise to solve almost any problem. Our clients have filed over 30 patents based on development work done by BNS Solutions and have received four “Best Of” awards for products and technologies developed with us. |

ProBatter Sports needed a practical way to control and sychronize their advanced baseball pitching machine. ![]() BNS Solutions developed hardware, software, and firmware to maximize performance. Our initial approach, using Visual Basic and Windows98, was an innovation that even Microsoft hadn’t seen before. Using our system, the ProBatter can precisely sychronize machine control with video frames and utilize a large database of critical pitch information to control the actual pitching mechanism. This allows the machine to simulate the pitching style of any major league pitcher. The machine is now used around the world and by many major league clubs and their farm systems in the United States. The basic design was easily migrated to run on Windows XP and less custom hardware providing a flexible platform that can be enhanced and cost reduced over time. |

When Hearth and Home Technologies set out to design their advanced energy pellet stove systems, they needed someone to develop the electronics and firmware. ![]() BNS Solutions designed all the system firmware and the advanced user interface wall control. Our solutions included controlling brushless DC motor based blowers and stepper motors, monitoring system temperatures, controlling operating parameters based on fuel type, and creating a closed loop setback temperature control. |

Medical Industries America was designing a new CPAP unit and they wanted it to be quieter, more efficient, and more precise in controlling the temperature of the humidifying water bath. ![]() BNS Solutions was brought in to develop the firmware for the new CPAP. Using our advanced research and technical innovation capabilities, we were able to drive a brushless DC motor based blower using sine wave drive. This resulted in the quietest CPAP unit of its time. In addition, employing a BNS developed no calculation PID control loop (that can run on the least expensive microcontrollers to keep costs at a minimum), the system controlled the temperature of the humidifying water bath to within 2 degrees C. |

A major machine builder spent 8.5 manweeks to wire a machine. They needed a new system that would simplify the process and shorten the time necessary. ![]() We designed a series of embedded programmable controllers that could be located at different machine stations and easily networked together. This allowed the company to reduce the wiring effort by 6 manweeks (they now can do the job in 2.5 manweeks) and increased the functionality of the system at the same time. |

Cooper Instruments needed to design a new generation of their FW2000 with increased accuracy. ![]() BNS Solutions designed the electronics and firmware of the new device doubling its accuracy [without increasing productions costs]. The new FW2000 can measure from -100 F to +500 F with a resolution and accuracy within 1 degree. |

A major process control products company needed a new generation chart recorder with a better user interface, greater connectivity and longer battery life. They asked BNS Solutions to design the electronics and firmware. BNS Solutions designed the electronics and firmware of the new device including an improved LCD and user interface design; simple connectivity to the PC; enhanced motor control; and the analog and digital sensor technologies. We also increased its battery life by over 55% from 4.5 weeks to 7 weeks. |

Escio Triton wanted to take their popular AC powered wire soldering tool and develop a model that could operate from a car battery at 200 watts. ![]() Using an advanced switching power supply, BNS Solutions was able to produce a product with no compromise in performance to it’s AC sibling. BNS also designed the plastic enclosure and replaceable cordset for multiple applications. |

Design engineers needed an advanced battery analyzing system that could sit on individual work stations to save the time and scheduling problems of using a central system. ![]() The PBA1000 connects directly to a PC allowing design engineers to analyze and develop rechargeable battery systems. The PDA1000 can charge or discharge cells at up to 10A and 20V. It can charge or discharge with specific waveform profiles, collect, log and graph data, and automatically perform cycle tests with built-in charge/discharge cutoff algorithms.
